The testosterone takeover begins.....

We had our first ultra-sound (I am a little over 18 weeks) for the new baby yesterday, at this great place in Frankfort, IL called The Belly Factory. If you're imagining a warehouse of closed off rooms that are bright white and sterilized and people dressed in hospital gowns waiting in line for their turn to get their bellies thoroughly examined......you would be very close to what I imagined. The actual setting was much more inviting. It was a quaint little place with a couple of very nice women with years of ultrasound experience, excited about showing people the fun in ultrasounds as opposed to just the medical procedure of them. They had this awesome special package which included: a 10 minute DVD, thermal prints, color prints, a CD of all the images, and most importantly gender determination. When we started, our ultrasound professional found the baby and first took it's heart rate. "154," she said. Then continued, "Old wives tales would point to a girl!" A huge smile ran across my face! She then showed us the spine, head, and heart beating. All images were in 2D at this point, so we had a good idea of what we were looking at. Then she found the legs. Upon further review she commented on how those old wives tales are just that. She found the cord and was able to highlight the cord, and sure enough there was a blocked out spot where she found a little pee-pee!! IT'S A BOY! Having one crazy boy already, I was looking forward to the quietness and balance that a little girl might have brought to our house. Then I remembered my worst fear, and I asked, "There's only one in there, right?!?!" She said, "YES!" Thank goodness! Throughout the ultrasound we were all amazed with how much he was moving around in there! We witnessed lots of flips and turns. This boy is going to be just as active as his big brother! He also had his hands by his face a lot, at one point it looked like he blew us a kiss! I am so relieved I'm not having twins! A healthy baby boy to add to our family will be perfect. There are also so many benefits to having another boy so close in age to Oden. Not to mention the money we will save since we already have all boy related baby items! We are all very happy! I asked Jess in the car ride home if we were still set on the name Ramsey Xavier? He said, "YEAH! He already has his Jersey Shore nickname : The Prescription!" Because of the initials RX he will have. Overall, we are blessed to be having another bouncing baby boy. I really don't mind being around a bunch of boys, since I have pretty much been a tomboy all of my life. Let the takeover begin!!

To the left you can see his two little legs and a little something in between.

A healthy heartbeat, 154 BPM

Ramsey's beautiful face :)
